DUSA AGM: Rebranding DJCAD Cantina

During the 2022 DUSA Annual General Meeting (18/03), the President of DUSA and the Senior Management of the organisation summarised the previous 12 months and outlined their plans for the rest of the year.

"We started talks with the School [DJCAD] to rebrand the cantina and create a more art-relevant space for students to enjoy," says Claire Lornie, DUSA's Head of Operations, Hospitality and Events. "The plans are to create a more plant-based menu and change the decor of the venue."

Dundee University Students Occupying the Tower Building

Dundee University students have decided to occupy one of the key buildings on Campus in their support of the striking University's staff. The strike is part of the University and College Union's [UCU] action against the pension cuts and poor working and pay conditions. With an excess of information input into your brain, the news loses its significance. We become apathetic, not because of our lack of interest but due to the normalisation of tragedies. They say it takes 66 days to create a habit. If you hear about one car accident every day for ten years, what are the odds that such information will trigger any (negative) emotion in your brain at all? Quite low, I’d argue. It prompts the media to spice up the news. Knowing that ‘plain’ information will not induce any emotional reaction from their audience, some outlets will strive to add personal details about victims, publish their last words, or inform them about their age or profession.
